EDUCATION
1994 Ph.D. Biochemistry, University of New Hampshire
Dissertation: "Physical
Studies of Limulus
Coagulogen, the Coagulin Gel and Coagulin
Gel
Formation"
1987 B.S. Biochemistry, U. of New Hampshire, magna cum laude.
Inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
EXPERIENCE
2000-present
Research Assistant Professor, Biochemistry and
Molecular Biology, UNH. Work is directed
at the long-term goal of making electrophoresis a practical tool for
the
detailed electrostatic and electrohydrodynamic characterization of
macro-ion
solutions without comparison to standards.
1995-2000
Postdoctoral research associate, UNH.
Taught physical
biochemistry at the senior undergraduate/graduate
student level. Investigated transport phenomena, with a focus on
membrane-confined
analytical electrophoresis (MCAE). Designed MCAE methods and
experiments.
Wrote and used computer programs to simulate transport in the MCAE
instrument,
and in the analytical ultracentrifuge, under a wide variety of
conditions.
1990-1994
Graduate student, UNH.
Investigated Limulus coagulogen,
coagulin and coagulin gel
formation. Techniques used included turbidimetry, velocity
sedimentation,
equilibrium sedimentation, fluorescence spectroscopy, circular dichroic
spectroscopy,
SDS-PAGE, column chomatography, FPLC, electron microscopy and
MCAE.
1978-1990
Toolmaker, Reltok Diamond Tool Company, Danville
NH.
Set and cut industrial diamonds. Machined metal parts for tools.
Manufactured,
repaired and calibrated hardness testers. |
